Achieving a truly balanced foot isn’t always a matter of trimming the toe region and heel buttresses to line in a plane. When a foot has been chronically mis-trimmed, one heel may end up longer than the other, resulting in what are referred to as “sheared heels” – often accompanied by a lame horse. The laser-engraved horizontal markings on this useful acrylic tool help ensure heels are trimmed to equal lengths, while the vertical centerline helps confirm that the bearing surface of the foot is perpendicular to the limb axis.
